Hey Rowdy friends, Kellie Lee here! Last weekend we celebrated Mother's Day the Rowdy way: at the 18th annual Moms on the Run 10K/5K at Reno High School! I wanted to give a personal shout out to everyone who came out for the race and made this day so special. Getting Rowdy means a lot of things to a lot of people, but this weekend I saw first-hand how our spirits can lift others up in times of need and strengthen our community in the process. Also, I realized pink looks good on anyone with a smile.
This non-profit Mother’s Day event holds a special place in my heart. Families of all ages come out to run, walk and simply enjoy all the fun and positive energy. It felt great to continue the 5K stroll tradition with my mother, sisters and niece. My mother had Thyroid cancer, so every year we all walk together to support women who have suffered from cancer. While my mother had her thyroid removed and is doing well, that is not the case for many women.
Moms on the Run is a non-profit organization founded by the Pinocchio family. The organization provides funds for women and their families who are experiencing hardship due to cancer. The Moms on the Run organization partners with Saint Mary’s Fitness Center and pays for patients’ enrollment in their Cancer Rehabilitation Program. So many women have benefitted from their efforts, and I am truly inspired by the positive change they make for the men and women in our community.
This year, I wanted to amplify our support for Moms on the Run and donate to the cause. If you missed us, we were out on the field giving away Rowdy swag and making new friends. Altogether we donated 5,500 Coconut Cashew bars and a bunch of our pink tanks. Giving back to our community is in the fabric of our company. Whether we’re sponsoring athletes or dishing out bars at annual events like Moms on the Run, this community means a whole lot to us, and we are happy to fuel its awesomeness.
